Each child/student is very different in their learning and abilities. Please complete the following questions so I may be better able to facilitate the learning process for your child/student this year.

IMPORTANT: Guidelines and Policies for 2009/2010
(Please REVIEW CAREFULLY. These guidelines are an accompaniment to your Enrollment & Guidelines Form.)

  1. Students will be tested and placed in the appropriate class based on their age and level.
  2. All tuition is due at the beginning of the new 4-week cycle. A $10 late fee will be added for every week after that until tuition is received.
  3. Good attendance habits must be maintained to keep up with the classes. This is done for both the benefit of the student and the class.
  4. Make-up classes for (with the exception of Kathak, Kuchipudi, Special Group and Music) will be allowed twice per year, first one being from Sept. – December, and second one being from Jan. – May. Make-ups will be conducted in groups and held close to the end of each session. There are no make-up sessions for Kathak, Kuchipudi, Special Group or Music classes.
  5. On-stage performances showcase the student’s talents and skills learned throughout the months for which they have been working on so diligently. All students have the opportunity to perform at Taal’s Annual Dance Recital at the end of the year.
  6. In addition to this, Taal students have the opportunity to perform at other different venues. Please note this is optional and based on student’s/parent’s decision. If the student performs, extra costs may be associated. This would include costs for extra classes, dress rehearsals and costume rental fees. For some items, custom-tailored costumes may be required, in which case they must be purchased. Costs will be provided to you prior to the performance.
  7. Photographs of students are sometimes used in brochures, website, posters, advertisements, and other promotional materials the school creates. This is optional and at the parent’s/guardian’s discretion.

Tuition and School Policies

Tuition
  • There is a one-time registration fee. Fee may be obtained from the Director of the school. Absence of one year or more of continuous enrollment requires new registration.
  • Tuition varies by class, and may be obtained from the Director of the school.
  • Tuition fees are based on a 4-week cycle, and are due on the 1 class of the cycle. There is a late charge of $10.00 after the first class.
  • Returned checks will be assessed a $20.00 fee.
  • If a student decides to cancel the classes and disenroll, the fees (except registration fee) are fully refundable if the cancellation is before the second class.
  • Additional fees are required for any extra classes due to on-stage, recital or other performances.
  • Recital will be held at the end of the year. Additional fees are required to participate in this event.
Attendance
  • Good attendance habits must be maintained to keep up with the classes. This is done for both the benefit of the student and the class.
  • Poor attendance slows the class down due to the need to repeat prior lessons.
  • Students who miss too many classes may not be allowed to participate in on-stage performance for that particular item missed.
Missed Classes
  • If a student misses a class for sickness or household emergency, the student will be allowed to make-up to 2 classes per year. Make-up classes will be conducted in a group setting and scheduled towards the end of each semester.
Punctuality
  • All classes will begin on time and end on time.
  • Students should arrive 5 minutes prior to class and begin warm-ups. Lack of warm-ups increases the risk of knee injury.
  • Please maintain punctuality. This is for the student’s benefit as well as the rest of the class.
Class Attire
  • All students must wear a Taal t-shirt and comfortable bottom such as sweat pants or leggings.
  • On occasion the teacher may request special clothing, such as a long skirt or salwar kurta.
Recital/Performance Policy
  • On-stage performances showcase the student’s talents and skills learned throughout the months which they have been practicing diligently.
  • A costume fee will be charged for on-stage performances.
  • It is highly preferred and recommended that all students participate in at least one on-stage performance per year. However, it is not mandatory.
  • Students will require written and/or verbal permission of the Director if he or she would like to replicate in part or whole the dance routine learned in the dance class at any event not being put through Taal School of Dance & the Indian Arts.
Parental Responsibility
  • All students are required to be picked up on time after their class is complete.
  • Children should not run around at any time, during class or in the waiting area.
Waiting Area Regulations
  • Students should not bring any valuables with them. The school is not responsible for any lost items.
  • No food or drinks (except water) are allowed in the studio. Chewing gum is strictly prohibited.
  • Parents and Students are requested to maintain silence during class to allow concentration.
Liabilities
  • Taal School of Dance and its Director accept NO LIABILITIES for any injuries or accidents that may occur at the dance studio premises, in performance/recital halls, in any school performance in state or out of state, during transportation to any performance location, or participation in any other activities of the school.
  • Taal School of Dance is not liable for any physical and/or emotional damage caused to my child while participating in any activities including a class or performance.
  • Any injury caused at the dance studio is not the responsibility of the teacher or Director of Taal School of Dance & the Indian Arts.
Injuries
  • Parents, legal guardians of minor students, and adult students waive the right to any legal action for any injury sustained on school property resulting from normal class activity or any other activity conducted by the students before, during or after class.
  • In the case of a medical emergency, it will be the responsibility of the parent or guardian to administer or arrange for medical treatment. The parent/guardian understands that they will take full responsibility of the student. All medical treatment is at the parent’s/guardian’s own expense.
Photo Release
  • I hereby grant permission to take photographs of the students to use in brochures, website, posters, advertisements, and other promotional materials the school creates. Please note this is optional and up to the parent/guardian’s discretion. Please indicate your preference:
